The City of San Gabriel Sea Gulls (SGSG) started off as a summer only program, which was for over thirty five years, a very successful, fun seasonal swim team.

During this period, the City of San Gabriel Park & Recreation Department sponsored the SGSG. Then, in May of 1991, George Young turned SGSG into a year round USA Swimming Team.

The SGSG have always approached competitive swimming ina serious way, but have also included the important points of water safety awareness along with aquatic training into its goal as a team. SGSG has promoted water safety awareness to over 6300 participants and have produced 86 lifeguards, swim instructors and swim coaches. SGSG has a program for all ages and abilities - Novice level to National level swimmers.

The City of San Gabriel Sea Gulls Swim Team is currently sponsored by the City of San Gabriel Park & Recreation Department, the SGSG Parent Support Group, and local businesses in the San Gabriel Valley.
